(PART OF CHARLESTOWN STATE PARK)
Studio A completed this unique project for the IDNR. Included in the project are 17 interpretive signs and 8 exhibits, including 3 hand-crank audio towers designed specifically to encourage children to have fun while learning about the historical features of the property. Developing the concepts and designs for the project required extensive research—-both historical and archaeological. One of the exhibits is a stone path (with 6 sets of concrete and corten steel arches) that replicates a historic stone path. Rose Island was an Amusement Park along the Ohio River in the late 1800’s. Visitors traveled to the Resort, mostly via steamboat, until the Resort was destroyed in the 1937 flood.
